Energy Efficiency at 24-Hour Fitness Facility

Princeton Public Utilities General Manager Keith Butcher, Princeton Public Utilities Commissioner Greg Hanson, and Energy Services Representative Nancy Kelly presented Anytime Fitness owners Kristi, Liz, and Dan Tveite a rebate check for upgrading the efficiency of their lighting and controls. Anytime Fitness moved into a new location last year. With the move, the Tveite’s focused on improving the facility with new exercise equipment, a remodeled space, and energy efficient lighting. The old fluorescent and incandescent fixtures were replaced with efficient LED light fixtures. Since the facility is open 24 hours per day but only staffed during the day, they installed occupancy sensors to automatically turn off the lights when they aren’t needed. The total rebate was $2,722. Per Dan, “Both Nancy and our contractor made the process easy. The lighting in our new facility is much better than what we had before.”
